Tooth Extractions
A dental extraction is a procedure that removes a tooth. Extractions are common for wisdom teeth or heavily decayed teeth that cannot be restored with a root canal.
What does an extraction look like?
An extraction procedure can vary in length depending on if it is required to be surgically removed and if there is other treatment also being done. Anesthesia can be used to help prevent you from being uncomfortable.
After an extraction it is important you follow guidelines to prevent dry sockets, or other complications:
After Treatment Recommendations:
- Avoid drugs and alcohol
- Do not use straws or anything that could cause a “sucking” in motion
- Stay hydrated
- Eat soft foods that don't require chewing.
- Use ice to help the swelling
