Dr. Minh Phan, DDS, Pasadena Dentist

Dr. Minh Phan came to the United States as a refugee from Vietnam in 1975 at the age of seven. From humble beginnings, he worked diligently to pursue the opportunities that would ultimately lead him to a career dedicated to serving others through dentistry.

After graduating from high school, Dr. Minh enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18, where he trained and served as a Dental Technician and Assistant. During his four years of military service, he gained valuable clinical experience that sparked his passion for dentistry. Following his honorable discharge, he continued his education at the University of Houston before being accepted to the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1997.

That same year, Dr. Minh and his wife—his high school sweetheart and now the practice’s business manager—opened their first dental office, Southmore Dental Center, in Pasadena after being entrusted with the practice by his brother-in-law, Dr. Lance Tran. Through a commitment to quality care and strong relationships within the community, the practice quickly grew. Over the years, Dr. Minh expanded by opening additional offices in Pasadena, Galena Park, and Houston. These practices were eventually unified under the name Phantastic Dental, which reflects both the wonderful patients he serves and his family name, Phan. (Phantastic Dental)

Following the events of September 11, 2001, Dr. Minh felt called to serve his country again and joined the United States Navy. Today, he continues to serve as an officer in the Naval Reserves, providing dental services to military personnel in both the Navy and Marine Corps while maintaining his civilian dental practices.

Dr. Minh has practiced dentistry in the Pasadena and surrounding communities for nearly three decades, with a strong commitment to serving underserved populations. He is known for his compassionate approach to dentistry and enjoys caring for patients of all ages. Dr. Minh believes every patient should be treated with the same respect, attention, and care as a member of his own family.

Dr. Minh and his wife have two children. Their daughter, Dr. Mercedes Phan, is a dentist who now practices alongside him, continuing the family’s legacy of care and service. Their son is pursuing a career as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. When he is not practicing dentistry or serving in the military, Dr. Minh enjoys spending time at his ranch caring for his cattle and property. Despite a busy schedule balancing his practices, military service, and family life, he remains deeply committed to the community that has shaped his life and career.
