Digital X-Rays in Massapequa

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays use a digital image capture device in place of traditional film, sending an image immediately to a computer. The result is a highly-detailed image of the mouth, and its contrast and resolution can be enhanced to more easily diagnose dental problems and determine the best treatment with less radiation.

Computer Digital Radiography (CDR) in Massapequa

Computer Digital Radiography (CDR)

Digital x-rays can now be taken using phosphorous plates that transmit the image directly into our computer. This permanently stores the image in your file and allows comparisons of past x-rays with current ones. The doctor, then, can see the progression of dental changes over time. The large computer image from the digital x-rays helps the doctor see greater detail and enables the doctor to zoom in on a specific area of the tooth. An important advantage to this new technology is that it reduces the amount of radiation by 90%. Digital x-rays are also faster. The digital image only takes a minute or two to appear on the monitor. In addition, this new technology is friendly to the environment since no chemicals are needed for developing the image.
