Dr. Pooja Khurana, East Orange Dentist

Dr. Khurana spent her early childhood growing up in Poughkeepsie, New York, before moving to Silver Spring, Maryland. It was during her many visits to the pediatric dentist where her love for dentistry began.

Dr. Khurana graduated from the University of Maryland in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Cell Molecular Biology & Genetics. She then earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (formerly the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery), graduating in 2001. As a dental student, Dr. Khurana conducted research within the Department of Orthodontics, and co- authored a research publication (Oral Health Status of Preschool Children Attending Head Start in Maryland, 2001). During her senior year, Dr. Khurana was selected to participate in a student externship program with the University of Dundee School of Dentistry, Scotland.

Upon graduation, Dr. Khurana completed a one year General Practice Residency at Columbia University’s New York Presbyterian Hospital. During her residency training, she gained additional clinical experience in the management and treatment of orofacial trauma, surgical extractions, and dental implant restorations.

Dr. Khurana worked in private practice in Manhattan for five years following her residency training. She has been practicing in East Orange, New Jersey, for nearly two decades. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys travel, crafting, cooking and music.
