Meet Patrick Johnson, DDS
Dr. Patrick Johnson, DDS, Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist, is known by his patients as Dr. J. He grew up with a sweet tooth and more than his fair share of cavities. Like many kids, he was terrified of his early dental visits. That experience became the fuel for his life’s mission: to build a state-of-the-art practice where going to the dentist is something children can actually look forward to.
Dr. J built Happy Smiles on exceptional clinical care, a focus on positive early dental experiences, and a 100% judgment-free environment where both kids and parents feel supported - never shamed. He understands how positive dental experiences early in life can improve a child’s smile, confidence, and relationship with dentistry for years to come.
Dr. J believes that serving others is one of life’s highest callings. He views his work not just as a profession, but as a genuine opportunity to give back to the children and families who trust him with their care. That spirit of servant leadership guides every decision he makes, from how he treats each patient to how he engages with the broader community.

Dr. J attended the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, ranked the #1 dental school in the country, where he discovered his passion for pediatric dentistry and caring for children with special healthcare needs. He was honored with the AAPD Predoctoral Student Award, given to one member of the graduating class selected for the most promising career in pediatric dentistry.
Yale School of Medicine & Yale New Haven Hospital
Dr. J completed his Pediatric Dental Specialty Residency through Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Hospital, where he gained advanced experience in pediatric dental care, surgical cases, cleft lip and palate, early orthodontics, pediatric dental trauma, and comprehensive care for children with advanced special healthcare needs.
Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist
Dr. J is a Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, achieving the highest level of certification available for pediatric dentists. He also received the Richard C. Pugh Achievement Award for scoring in the top 3% of pediatric dentists on the board examination.

After 10 years of experience as a pediatric dental specialist, Dr. J chose Pensacola, Florida as the place to bring his practice vision to life and turn his dream into reality. When Dr. J is out of the office, you can catch him shooting hoops with his sons, Tommy and Charlie; trying new restaurants with his wife, Victoria; enjoying the white sand beaches of the Panhandle; or finding a fresh pair of sneakers.
