Treating Facial Infections And Abscesses At Daws Dental
What Are Facial Infections And Abscesses?
A facial infection or dental abscess is an infected tooth or an infection under the gums, which leads to all kinds of problems if left untreated. These infections are extremely painful, often making it impossible to perform ordinary activities. Some of the problems they can cause are infection of the surrounding bone, tooth loss, soft tissue and sinus infection, and even life-threatening conditions such as septicemia (inflection of the entire bloodstream) and abscess of the brain.
How Do Infections Develop?
Facial infections and dental abscesses form as the result of poor oral hygiene or bacteria exposure from an injury or oral surgery. Certain factors can also increase the risk of developing an infection, such as immunodeficiency disorders, alcoholism, and diabetes. It’s always better to prevent these infections from developing, so make sure to follow a good oral hygiene routine of twice-daily brushing, daily flossing, regular dental appointments, and avoiding consuming excess sugar.
