Francis SP Cruz, DDS

Dr. Cruz moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1976 from the Island of Guam, which is the largest island of the Marianas Archipelago located in the Central pacific. He came in pursuit of higher education receiving a BS Degree in BioSci from the University of San Francisco then, crossing Golden Gate Park, entered the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery and Bio materials degrees.

Why Dentistry? Dr Cruz found that his interest in science, medicine and the creative use of his hands lay in the profession. And as a profession Dentistry endeavors to provide the best biomaterials and techniques for patients, always something new and exciting to learn! His own personal experience with dental treatment and health has not been the best. The dental visit growing up on the island was associated with pain and so was an anxious experience. Dr Cruz always felt that it could be better!!

Dr Cruz has found that relieving a patient’s anxiety is the first door to open to better dental health and Aesthetics. Helping a patient improve their dental health can lead to better overall health. To do this Dr Cruz establishes trust and rapport with his patients. His favorite phrase of encouragement is, “I will never go faster than you! “. This is to let his patient know that his goal is to make sure they understand the treatment by providing intra- oral photos and reviewing their Xrays. And, of course, providing it in the gentlest way. Dr Cruz has made the SF Bay Area his home since 1976. He has practiced in the city of Vallejo since 1986; he loved this area so much that he bought a practice here in 1990 and has been here ever since. He raised his three sons here, they all became professional Acrobats and have worked all over the world for Cirque du Soleil and 7 Fingers Circus, both companies are based in Montreal, Canada.

Dr. Cruz spends his free time hiking on various trails in SF Bay Area, including Mt Tam and Lake Herman. He also is an avid reader of science material involving a wide range of topics from neuroscience to metabolism to quantum physics and cosmology. Dr Cruz is also a big movie and anime fan.

Most of all he loves people and the art and practice of Dentistry!
