Schedule an AppointmentHaving a crooked and uneven smile is a cosmetic concern for many, but did you know that misaligned teeth can affect your dental health, too?
The traditional treatment for straightening teeth and correcting malocclusion (a misaligned bite) has always been metal braces. This option has turned many people off to correcting their misaligned smiles due to the braces’ appearance, the way they feel inside the mouth, their care requirements, dietary restrictions, and more.
Thankfully, Eastgate Dental Excellence offers a much simpler treatment alternative for straightening your teeth — clear aligners from Invisalign!
Invisalign is a brand name of clear teeth aligner trays that offer an alternative to traditional
orthodontic treatment with metal braces.
Rather than adjusting your teeth with brackets and wires like metal braces, Invisalign uses a series
of custom-designed clear, plastic aligner trays that gradually move your teeth into the desired
position while you wear them. Invisalign works best to correct mild to moderate orthodontic issues,
and our dentists can help you determine whether they’re the best option for you.
When you decide to start your journey to a straighter smile with Invisalign, our dentists first take
an intraoral 3D scan of your mouth, which is like taking a digital impression of your teeth. The
scan is then submitted to Invisalign where your teeth straightening plan is designed, and your
custom-designed teeth aligner trays are crafted.
Once you receive your set of aligners, you can begin wearing them, starting with the first set.
You’ll wear each set for two weeks before moving onto the next set of aligners in your Invisalign
teeth straightening system.
The total time required to reach your desired results depends on how far out of alignment your teeth
are to begin with. Some patients finish their set of aligner trays in as little as two months, while
others will need to work through a lengthier series of trays over several months.
The obvious benefit of teeth straightening with Invisalign over traditional metal braces is that the
trays are barely noticeable when you’re wearing them.
While you should wear your aligners as much as possible to achieve optimal results, you can remove
them for meals and continue to enjoy your favorite foods. You can also take them out briefly for
special occasions. Just be sure to brush and floss your teeth and put your aligner trays back on as
soon as possible when you’re finished.

Don’t let the fear of metal braces stop you from getting a straighter smile. If you would like a straighter smile but don’t want to deal with the inconvenience of metal braces, then we encourage you to schedule an appointment to talk with one of our dentists about whether Invisalign is right for you. You don’t have to live with crooked teeth or the discomfort of an imperfect bite any longer.
